19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts
A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former mentor Cervara.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since March of 2023.
The win also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.
But the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved service.
He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the final five points to take the lead.
Both players traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.
The opponent defended four early chances in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
